Crawford would like to believe consumer protection is just around the corner. "The pen is mightier than the fraud." the writer says, "It's a matter of political will to properly regulate banks. It's just a matter of votes." Just imagine … an MPP with a mandate from a petition to investigate predatory lending practices … with clear goals for consumer safeguards, and Ontario’s own ‘Responsible Lending Act’. Friends and Neighbours of Oakville … People know me as Tony: We are the Crawford family. Jill and I have lived in Oakville for about thirty years and our children are past graduates of Blakelock public school. We have seen Oakville grow from a small-town with country roads we used to take on weekend trips to a 905 home to rest between commutes to busy places in our lives. NDP imperatives include: Better Health Care, Affordable Education, Green Energy, Job Protection: Fair Property Taxes and higher Minimum Wage. www.ontariondp.com The NDP is the grassroots of Canada. The NDP is about caring and quality of life. I am a proud member of the NDP. Above all … the NDP is about Fairness and Social Responsibility. No other party is so believable. None so convincing. The NDP will: ● Upload all downloaded services. ● Assume 50% cost for public transit ● Provide health-tax rebates. ● Restore disability and drug benefits. ● Invest in modern clean green light transit systems. ● Protect peoples’ homes by freezing property tax. ● Protect jobs with Commissioner oversight. ● Support education with realistic funding formula. ● Freeze tuition fees and fund ● Increase tax on banks and insurance companies. ● Roll-back taxes and eliminate capital tax on manufacturing. I am now a real person. I have only a few weeks political tenure. I apologize in advance. We live in a complex world. We are a family of conservationists and practical environmentalists. We support a secular school system that formed our children to superbly reflect traditional multicultural Canadian values. I have a rat-pack approach to ‘Reduce’, ‘Recycle’ and ‘Reuse’. Furthermore, I have an NDP mentality to ‘Refuse’ any unnecessary packaging and byproducts. As residents, we have firsthand experience of Halton Region being a magnet for ‘Identity Theft’ and ‘Mortgage Fraud’ that has reached 15% as the highest in Canada. Consequently, we welcome the NDP for its pride in our books and their stand for social responsibility. We especially want a ‘Responsible Lending Act’ to protect victims of fraud and dreadful namesake loans for ‘Sitting Ducks’. I am delighted to represent the NDP as a candidate for reason in the way we live now. We are concerned about the social consequences of ‘Identity Theft’ and ‘Fraud’ … with critical questions about its impact on life, wealth, personal property and health: ● We know identify thefts, frauds and scams in the banks and financial industry hurt us. Who has control, and what needs to be done? ●We know identify thefts, frauds and scams in our healthcare system threatens our lives, health and finances. Who has control, and what needs to be done? ● We know identify thefts, frauds and scams threatens every senior, each minority and all workers. Who has control, and what needs to be done with respect to affordable legal counsel? How we live depends on money. Public – Private – and our Own. Oakville is one of the richest towns in Canada. We are easy targets. Oakville boasts the highest rate of ‘Identity Theft’ at 15% that steals houses, money and health-cards. Healthcare has three hundred thousand more cards in the system than there are people. There are many opportunities to endanger your health at your expense. My experience of a scam has been 8-years without closure. Eight years with no legal opportunity to question anyone about my debt crisis. As the law stands victims are denied justice. Victims lose houses and face certain bankruptcy through litigation that for me actually continues during and immediately beyond this campaign. McGuinty Bill 152 does nothing about ‘Sitting Duck’ loans that takes millions from hard working people. Canada is a wealthy place and Toronto is the world capital for ‘Seniors’ Fraud’. It grabs money just like that. Canada is the place of choice for corporate rip-offs. We saw the Sponsorship Scandal hand down wicked deterrents that Hollinger and Nortel are better off not being tried in Canada. I am not sure why Flaherty chose to write me in my second week of politics on the same day a bank was in the news for forging clients’ signatures. But whatever the reason, my books, letters and reports have gone to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General for review. It is fair to say, people acknowledge the urgent need for new criminal code in Canada. But it took NDP courage to put a writer’s case into a petition for an election. I am very proud the NDP is forging a strong message to fix a serious problem that affects every one of us. I am very glad the NDP has made me a real person again. A vote for me in this election will make a difference. A vote for me is a vote for the NDP that stands up for working people. A vote for me is a vote for a mandate to outlaw ‘Trick Loans’ for your protection. I look forward to your vote. I look forward to doing the job … I thank you. |
